The ASP is an add-on module for ESPUL that greatly extends the output management functions that can be performed with ESPUL. ASP is a background processor designed to perform automated, repetitive processing of spoolfiles in the MPE spool queue. ASP's functions include:
- Automated report distribution. Use distribution
lists to send report copies to various recipients with custom banners,
printers, environments and etc.
- Report packaging and print order control.
- Report content analysis. Scan spoolfiles for
specific strings and take action when strings are found/not found.
Primarily used for $STDLIST error checking. Includes highlighting of found
strings and a variety of user notification methods.
- Spoolfile archiving system based on an Image
database. Remove spoolfiles from the spool queue and store in secure disk
files. Archived files are recorded in an Image data base with complete
information about the archived files. Archived files may be moved to tape
with tape volume recorded in the database. Archived files may be restored
to the spool queue for reprint. Archive database can easily be browsed and
archived files still on disk can be viewed on-line.
- User designed banners
- Supports background network spoolfile transfer
between HP3000 systems and network printing.
- User-exit feature
allows extension of ASP with user written programs or MPE command files.
